Metamorphosis

By April Turgutalp

Well, this tiger woke up one morning to find that he has morphed somewhat into a yellow swallowtail, he has claimed planet yarn as his, as his content satisfied smile shows that he is actually quite proud of himself. Saturn is close by in the background, taking note that he is NOWHERE near Earth, and he is perfectly happy with that. 2' x 2' gallery wrapped oil painting

CAT-A-RACK TESTING

By April Turgutalp

So this cool cat with the glasses had a little bit of a misunderstanding, however, by the smirk on his face tells you he isn't even mad! Oh do look worried, little kitties in the back, this handsome fellow is about to get frisky! In case you're wondering, yes, I laughed the entire time painting this. Watercolor isn't usually my medium, but I am going to be doing a serious of cat jokes in watercolor, stay tuned!

Humanalistic behavior

By April Turgutalp

Ever wonder what animals would look like if they acted like humans? Well, pretty ridiculous if you ask me. As you can see here, with the sunk macing the racoon with his hands in the air. This is probably how we look to the animals. They are probably peeking out from the bushes saying, "can you believe these guys?" Hopefully this painting will bring you a lot of laughs, I had to invent a new word for the title. The rainbow in the background represents many things. God's promise put into humans hands, can you see the handprints with translucent pigment on them? I used the translucent pigment because it changes color in the angle that you look at it, just as God's promise changes for the angle of which an individual looks at it. It also represents humanity for the LGBT community. Below are the peace signs on vines loaded with thorns but once you reach peace the thorns are removed, however if you look closely in my initials on the right you will see it is loaded with thorns because, well, I am not perfect. This is mostly oil, with some translucent pigments on a four by four foot gallery wrapped canvas.

Field of pawsies

By April Turgutalp

My latest, “field of pawsies” so the story goes.. on the island of mailitlekat island, all the white cats were buried in a beautiful field where daisies grew. Over time the daisy seeds morphed with the beloved white cat god’s rested bodies, taking on the genetic personality traits of each cat soul that had been buried on the sacred fields of mailitlekat island. Today they all bloom in the month that the natives call: katsnaughtfowgaughtin. Didplayed at DaVinci Gallery

Can't fit a tiger in a cup? Says who? Here we have a very concerned tiger wondering if he can drink all that coffee. Or maybe he is concerned about where the heck the rest of his body went. Endangered Flight

By April Turgutalp

This beauty displays a sea turtle with a shell of a honeycomb, which took me weeks to figure out what angle it should be at. This surreal flight is very peaceful to look at. I've enjoyed several hours staring at this one, and the positive energy it gives is amazing. The bee minding it's own business on the turtle gives the reflection of nature at it's very connection. We are all connected, as nature, we all need each other to survive. Acrylic on a 30x24 stretched canvas. Was displayed at DaVinci Gallery in Tomball Texas also featured at Donovans' art and fashion show

Genetically mutated disaster

By April turgutalp

A snake being held up with lizard legs and a flying fish for a tail? Doesn't get much weirder than this. I had a lot of fun with this painting. My imagination just taking it one step at a time. The dust storm and clouds were happy little accidents that I rode with.

My first abstract

By April Turgutalp

I have to tell you the story on this one. I had a friend over, and we were painting together, and this was actually suppose to be a background of a painting that I was teaching her. When it dried, I was so pleased with the interesting pattern it left I decided to leave it alone. My friend went forward with her painting, and mine stayed as a unique abstract for a finished look. 14x14 Acrylic on canvas

A little more wine, please

By April Turgutalp

So I think I am going to confess this now. I love red wine. Merlot, a good Cabernet Sauvignon, maybe it's because I grew up in California. Maybe it's because I love cooking with red wine. Maybe it's because I think vineyards are beautiful, no matter where you are in the world. Maybe it is how each bottle of wine can be distinctively different than the next. Or maybe it's because it's reminds me of myself, getting better with age :) I will always enjoy a glass of red wine watching a sunset eating a gourmet home cooked meal. 24X12 acrylic on canvas

Reversed night

By April Turgutalp

These are 3 12x24 Acrylic on canvas sold together as one painting. The story behind this is a little interesting. I held a zoom meeting to teach this painting to about six girls online during the Covid lock down. We were all saying how we wished we could turn back time and reverse the year back into a normal times. The painting was quite appropriate for the time and you can feel a bit of desperation and loneliness in the painting.

odd dream

By April turgutalp

Have you ever had a dream where someone was next to you, you never saw their face, but you felt connected to them somehow? They just were next to you, drinking some wine, watching a sunset, but you couldn't tell who they were or what they looked like. It was a deeper connection that did not go based off of looks. It's quite odd, but a way that we can connect on a deeper level is by a presence, not a look. 16x20 acrylic on canvas

Blobbing Birch trees

By April Turgutalp

I wanted something I could throw the paint on in blobs and still have it vibrant. Sometimes you just need to get messy. Release the blobs. Trees are amazing. Sorry I think I have ADD. How the leaves change color in the fall, how they start over every spring, how they provide us with oxygen to breathe and how they don't die of old age but from other factors such as drought, lightening, fire or infestations. Trees are our friends, our scenery, the air we breathe. 24x12 blobby acrylic on canvas.
